Join us this summer for a special session of Music Explorers Carnival of the Animals. During this four-week class, we will explore how music can be used to represent different animals: how they move, the sounds they make, and how both the animals and their musical representation can affect how we feel. This course is presented in partnership with Austin Chamber Music Center and registrants in the course will receive free tickets to ACMC's family friendly concert of Carnival of the Animals on July 20.
In weekly classes, students learn about different musical styles and terminology and begin to develop critical listening skills so they can describe the music they hear: presto or lento; piano or forte; a march or a waltz. Each class features a guest instrument for students to touch and play, arts and crafts, and music and movement. This class is a wonderful introduction to different kinds of music and musical instruments and can serve as a transition to private music lessons on a single instrument.
Caregivers are required to remain onsite for the duration of the class or lesson, even if the child is participating in the class or lesson on their own.
